What Cove will NOT do
We need to be very clear about this — medicine is not a place for AI overreach.
- Cove is not a diagnostic tool. It does not replace clinical judgment, attending consultation, or evidence-based references.
- Cove Health prepends every output with a disclaimer that it is informational only and not a substitute for medical care. We will not remove this — even on Pro.
- We do not integrate with EMR systems and have no plans to. Cove is a personal pocket tool, not enterprise software.
- If a patient is in active emergency, the only correct action is calling emergency services. Cove will say this verbatim if asked about emergency symptoms.
On HIPAA and privacy
We are not a Business Associate and Cove is not a HIPAA-covered system. What we are is an app that processes everything locally on your phone — meaning if you choose to dictate notes about a patient, that audio and transcript never leave your device. Whether your individual hospital policy allows this is between you and your compliance team.
